The Standard Body-Fat Percentage Theory: What Nobody Ever Told You About Stubborn Fat!
The body-fat percentage theory explains why 'stubborn' fat doesn’t go away—and what you need to do to lose it.
How to Get Rid of Stubborn Fat
We’re all tired of stubborn fat that won’t leave our bodies—even when we follow diets and stay physically active.
It’s not your fault, because no one really gives you the information you’re looking for. Many supplement companies and even some nutritionists want to profit from your situation and squeeze money out of you.
I just wrote a piece about the reason fat doesn’t come off the body, and after you read this, everything will be much clearer.

The Standard Fat Level Theory
The “standard fat level” is a widely accepted theory about metabolism. It suggests that the human body maintains a “standard” level of body fat. Each person’s level is different, and it’s determined by many factors such as lifestyle, activity level, genetics, eating habits, and more.
For example, if over the last 10 years you’ve been around 18% body fat, there’s a good chance that this is your body’s standard fat level. Body-fat percentage is largely regulated by hormones—more specifically, the hunger-regulating hormone leptin.
Leptin is secreted by fat cells in the body and acts like a thermostat. If you set a room temperature to 25°C, the thermostat heats the room when it gets colder, and cools it down when it gets too warm—so it stays around 25°C.
Leptin works the same way. When fat cells shrink, leptin decreases, which makes you hungrier so you eat more. When fat cells grow, leptin increases, which reduces hunger so you eat less. This is how the body protects and maintains a “standard” level of body fat.
With this in mind, we can understand why some people follow extreme diets for a few weeks, lose 10–15 kg, end the diet—and then quickly gain all that weight back. That happens because they lost weight too fast and dropped below their body’s standard fat level, and the body tries to restore it.
The body restores this standard level by lowering leptin, which directly increases hunger. It also slows down metabolism by reducing the number of calories burned each day, and in the end it absorbs calories from food more easily. This is a protective mechanism against weight loss.
Every time you try extreme, uncontrolled diets, this protective mechanism becomes stronger—making weight loss much harder and weight gain much easier.
That’s why people who diet often tend to be heavier overall—not because diets “make you fat” (that would violate the laws of physics), but because once they stop the diet, they immediately return to their old eating habits since the diet is very hard to maintain.
In the end, they gain weight fast—and often become heavier than they were before.
For this reason, you should consult a nutritionist or dietitian who can give you a controlled plan, instead of following internet diets or creating diets on your own.
But you also need to be careful, because even specialists can use this information in a way that makes you dependent on them.
One strong part of our BioDiet program is that we teach our clients how to maintain the weight they’ve lost permanently—so they don’t need a dietitian anymore.
